A teacher caned his student. Some said its child abuse. You can't give a lesson by hurting them for their mistakes. You must use more gentle ways. Like giving encouragement and compassion. In my opinion, students who have never been beaten by their teachers couldn't experience what enjoy and fun of being in school. If you got beaten even once, you'll never forget such tense moment, isn't it? And you'll remember it for the rest of your life. You'll come to ask forgiveness from the teacher, and realize what have you done wrong. You'll never again repeat the same mistake due to your teacher's action against your wrongdoings.
Try ask anyone who has finished his study and has been successful in his work, especially boys (or should I address as 'men'). Have you ever been scolded or caned by your teacher? When and why? What wrong have you done till your teacher decided to give you a lesson? I expect he would give out a grin and laugh a little as he rewinding the school life memories. Why? He would surely remembers it. For some reason, teachers don't punish their student just like that without, at least a reason.
So, parents, why are you so mad when your child get bruises or marks by the teachers? Of course its because your child have done something wrong that makes the teachers got furious and decided to give them a lesson. Why have to 'attack' the school authorities? Don't you think the teachers got children of theirs too? They'll understand pretty much how you feel about the matter. For unmarried or non-child teachers, well surely they'll understand too how it feels when one of their family member got injured and you know who's responsible for that. So you (parents) also have to understand that whatever actions taken by teachers is to give awareness to your children how to be a man in the future, not just how to behave well at school.
Such protective parents could bring misery to themselves in the future. Why I said that? The child would feel safe and he is free to do anything he likes, even bad things. Because his parents doesn't care if he act wrongly, they just advice him to do well at school and get good grades. The worst is when he is loaded with all the money he could spend while his parents have not even a day to watch over him. He'll become ungrateful and boastful with all the wealth he possess. Then, he'll tend to involve in smoking, bullying, harassing, vandalism etc etc, even drug abusing. At this rate, the person who get responsibility of the child's wrongdoing, oftentimes the school authority. For letting such affair to happen, the school's name got down. The society criticize the teachers of the school, for not being able to take care of their students well. From my point of view, its really not the teacher's or school's fault, but the parents. Parents who think their child is right and everyone else is wrong, without finding out whose fault is it at first, is really something annoying, and really a wrong way in raising a child. They'll only putting some evil grins on their child's heart.
In teacher's point of view, I don't think most teachers in this country is really going to be a teacher. Teaching is not their ambition. Because they can't fulfil their dream job, they'll resort to take teaching courses and be a teacher instead. This is because teaching is the easiest job to get and earn stable monthly salary. You'll get longer holiday too compared to other kind of job. Till then, I think the longest holiday in a year of working, is being a teacher. Two months end-year and two weeks mid-year holiday is an undeniable evidence. Plus public holidays and all. But you still got salary for the two months end-year holiday too, thats pretty convenient.
So what I'm saying is, a teacher himself doesn't have much intention to teach at all, just to have good possession in earning money, without have to actually work that hard. Just say few words at class, give homeworks, and sit down enjoying your time. Some teachers doesn't even care if his students finished their homeworks or not, it goes the same with the attendance. That also brings problems to the school management, even the students and other teachers too. A teacher should direct the way to success and become a role for student, but if you got these lazy teachers in your school, works could not be done perfectly well. Because a teacher's duty is not only to teach, but also to do paperworks, organize events, hold multiple posts, lead organizations and more.
In terms of punishing students, beating and caning is not that abusive if it is done in more educative ways. Just give a small hit in which it hurts, but not permanent, sufficient enough for giving a mark in the student's heart for his mistake and why he got to pay for that. Once in a while, you should got one slap in your face, as to remind what wrong have you done. Humans do sins everyday, the difference is that it is forgivable or unacceptable.
To conclude of what I'm babbling about, is that every side has to play their part in raising the young ones, so that the future is secured, from sins and destruction. Parents, don't trust every word of what your child said, learn to listen to the teachers and students who saw the scene too. Not resolve in 'attacking' the school when your child came home crying and complaining. Teachers, keep remind yourself of your duty and responsibility. You have hundreds of students to take care of in a day. Don't act cross over the limit in which it could bring numerous problems to you and people around you in the future. Try to control your anger and stress brought up by your students. Understand your student's situation first. If the student is proved to be wrong, then some equal punishment should be performed. Don't ever resolve in physical sentence hastily.
Me says: If only everyone is a good listener, there'll be very less fight in this world.
